To Check Disputes, Registration of Wills to be Filmed

To check legal disputes, the Delhi government will start ` at the newly refurbished sub-registrar offices. Earlier, people would only submit signed written wills.

According to officials, there have been a number of cases of wills being forged, leading to property disputes.

The announcement was made at a function in Kapashera in South West Delhi Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the fourth new sub-registrar office.

“The new office ensures on-line appointment, hassle-free and quick registration, same-day delivery of paper, computerized record management and elimination of touts. This will also eliminate irregularities, including fake transactions,” said Dikshit.

Officials said that the audio-visual recording facility would be available in all the new sub-registrar offices in Mehrauli, Rohini and Vivek Vihar offices.

Kapashera has been constructed by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) for R 6.25 crore. The new office is fully air-conditioned and all processes are e-enabled.

Urban development and revenue minister Arvinder Singh said that the government is keen to commission e-sub registrar offices in every sub-division.

Currently, 16 sub-registrar offices are functional across Delhi out of which four have been converted into e-SR offices.

Online registration of properties has already been launched in sub-registrar offices in Mehrauli, Rohini and Vivek Vihar.

The facility is being extended in sub-registrar offices in Nangloi, Geeta Colony, Janakpuri, Libaspur, Majri and Bhalswa.

Officials said by the end of the current year, the facility will be made available in all sub registrar offices.
